Orlando Lund
Orlando was awarded an Art Scholarship to Stowe School where he studied a wide range of visual mediums including sculpture, charcoal, pen & ink, oils, watercolours, acrylics, etching and photography. Consequently he rapidly became an accomplished draughtsman.
After leaving school he became a published songwriter with Virgin Music, and band leader of the famously 'off the wall' soul-funk-jazz collective 'The Big Cheese All Stars'. He became a regular booking at Ronnie Scott's and The Jazz Cafe, as well as many tours and festivals supporting James Brown, Gil Scott-Heron, Fred Wesley, Roy Ayers and Don Blackman.
Meanwhile Orlando's artistic skills found an outlet that partnered him with Storm Thorgerson of Hipgnosis (at a time when Pink Floyd needed accomplished, imaginative artists for their surreal backdrops for their world tours). In 1995 he studied computer graphics at the London College of Printing.
In 2006 Orlando moved to Mallorca where he successfully continues to work in the music industry and his paintings show his influences from popular culture and media.
Earlier this year he contacted Carina Haslam who was very impressed by his work and agreed to show it for the first time in this country. His piece 'Atomic Dog' was chosen by the Affordable Art Fair team to be used in their publicity for the event
